Critical Orientation Days 2026

From 14 to 23 October: A time to look beyond the narrow confines of technology and critically engage with socio-political issues

What are the Critical Orientation Days?
Socio-political issues in engineering studies? These are often neglected. That is why we have the Critical Introduction Days, which are designed to create a space to engage with precisely these issues and hold stimulating discussions. As future engineers, it is essential to be aware of these issues in order to conduct research and develop products that do not overlook specific groups of people or our environment.

What can you expect?
These two weeks are packed with a variety of topics, presented in a wide range of formats. Among other things, you can look forward to an opening panel discussion on defence research, as well as workshops, city walks, film screenings and an art market covering topics such as anti-racism and anti-colonialism, reproductive and queer rights, homelessness, labour law and feminism. To round things off in style, there’ll also be a Heuriger with live music.

How can I take part in the Critical Orientation Days?
Do any of the events appeal to you? Then pop along or register for those with limited places. We look forward to seeing you!
